Started in 2011 as a companion to my t-shirt company, the Tumblr blog quickly became the centerpiece of our content marketing effort, and honestly it’s just been a lot of fun. Lots of photos, gifs, quotes, short posts, curated posts from others – If I can make someone smile or if they learn something new about someone that maybe they thought they already knew all about, well, that’s about the best I can ask for.
Since about 2012 or so, it’s been featured on Tumblr’s History Spotlight page, alongside some great blogs from PBS, LIFE Magazine, NPR, presidential libraries and many more excellent collections, which is truly humbling.
In 2013, the gif set below was featured in Tumblr’s Year End Review:
In April 2014, a weird Abe Lincoln gif I made out of three Matthew Brady pictures from The National Archives made it to the Tumblr Radar, which is a section of the user dashboard that anyone logged in sees, so that was pretty awesome.
Tumblr user @retrocampaigns made a great #HistoryGIF of Abe #Lincoln w/@USNatArchives records! Inspired to make one? http://t.co/C4l3zoxFh0

We’re currently at over 100,000 followers, and for a little history blog, that feels pretty nice 🙂 I’ll keep it up until I can’t keep it up anymore. Below are some of my favorite posts, as well as some nice Tweets from people over the years:
