Retro Campaigns T-Shirts was a rad company that I founded in 2007 and loved but eventually got burned out on. We created t-shirts based on past political campaigns, and I managed all the sales & marketing, in addition to handling orders, customer service and even packaging and sending out orders. We established a presence on Facebook early on and built up a strong following, and later focused on content marketing and our Tumblr blog.
It was a ton of work, and while our fans are very, very passionate, it wasn’t going to be sustainable or scalable unless I went all-in and made tshirts my life. Eventually I decided to merge the t-shirt site with the blog site, offer a limited selection of tees on RedBubble, and that’s where we are.
It was a lot of fun and it taught me invaluable lessons about business, marketing, social media and Adlai Stevenson. Sorry if we don’t carry the one you loved anymore. Maybe you could make a new one?
